Q: I just received an Affordable Medicine Solutions (AMS) card from my doctor.
How do I use it?
A: Simply bring the AMS card, along with your prescription and your
insurance card (if you have one) to your pharmacy when you go to fill your
prescription. Your pharmacist will use your AMS card to file an electronic
claim and generate the rebate for your prescription.
Q: How will I receive the rebate?
A: The rebate is provided to you “instantly” when you fill your
prescription. The rebate amount is calculated by AMS according to the rules
established by the drug manufacturer, and those rebate funds are immediately
applied towards the price of your prescription, directly reducing your
out-of-pocket cost.
To determine the rebate amount for your prescription, please see the AMS
Program Offers page.
Q: How much is the rebate I should expect to receive?
A: The rebate value depends on a variety of factors, including your
out-of-pocket price and the specifications determined by the manufacturer. You
can find general information on the rebate you may expect to receive for your
prescription medication by visiting the AMS
Program Offers page.
Q: Will AMS work with my prescription insurance card?
A: Yes, the AMS program will work in coordination with your prescription
insurance. The rebate amount will be determined in consideration of your
insurance co-pay.
Q: Will AMS work with Medicaid or the Medicare Prescription Discount program?
A: No. AMS cannot be used in conjunction with Medicaid, Medicare, or any
other similar federally funded programs.
Q: How much will the Affordable Medicine Solutions program cost me?
A: There is no cost to you to participate in or receive the benefits of
the program. The manufacturer of your prescription medicine fully sponsors the
AMS program.
Q: Will AMS work for both new and refill prescriptions?
A: Yes, the AMS program works with both new and refill prescriptions.
Q: Why do I need to register?
A: The Affordable Medicine Solutions program falls under certain banking
and health information laws that require your registration and agreement with
the Terms and Conditions of the program. While you may use the card prior to
registration, it is important that you register your card soon after you first
use it if you wish to continue to receive AMS program rebates. Failure to
register your card will result in the termination of your AMS account.
Q: How do I register?
A: You can register by either returning the Business Reply Card you
received at the doctor's office as part of the Affordable Medicine Solutions
brochure, or by entering the appropriate information into the Registration Page
on this website.
Q: What if the prescription is for my child? Can I still use the AMS program?
A: While minors are eligible to receive the manufacturer rebates under
the program, the AMS card registration process involves certain agreements and
authorizations that must be accepted by the parent or legal guardian of the
child. You may register on behalf of your child as you normally would at a
doctor's office or pharmacy. Please use the "Minor Registration" function on
the Card Registration page, or
click here to go directly to that page..

determine that your card is lost! We will terminate your old account, set up a
new account, reassign any funds remaining on your lost card to your new
account, and send you a new ID card.
Q: How can I get an Affordable Medicine Solutions card?
A: You may obtain an AMS card through your doctor or by calling AMS
customer service at 1-800-258-1038.
Q: Why doesn't the pharmaceutical manufacturer simply reduce the cost of the
medicine, rather than going through this rebate process under AMS?
A: A reduction in the price of the medicine by the manufacturer may
never make it all the way to you. The price you pay for your prescription is a
combination of not only the cost of the drug, but also costs for other services
from companies involved in providing your drug to you. Those costs can arise
from the drug wholesaler, the pharmacy, your prescription insurance company and
others. As a result, the drug manufacturer has no way to control the costs that
those companies add to the price of the drug, or the amount of savings that
those companies might pass along. Through the AMS program the manufacturer can
ensure that you directly receive the full benefit of their rebate or discount.
